Dr Amie McCosker

Speaks English Dr. Amie McCosker joined The Medical Centre of Gympie in January 2024, bringing experience from both hospital and general practice settings. She completed her medical degree at the Australian National University of Canberra and has previously worked at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and The Canberra Hospital. Dr. McCosker has a keen interest in all aspects of general medicine and is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two-year-old, running, practicing yoga, creating art, and cooking.

Speaks Dutch Dr. Heleen Bontje has been a dedicated member of The Medical Centre of Gympie since 2017, bringing a wealth of experience from both hospital and general practice settings. She completed her medical degree in the Netherlands in 2010 before undertaking her GP training in Southeast Queensland. With over seven years of experience in general practice, Dr. Bontje has previously worked in multiple hospitals in the Netherlands, as well as in Shepparton Hospital, Gympie Hospital, Caloundra Hospital, and Nambour Hospital. Dr. Bontje has a strong passion for providing comprehensive and compassionate care, with special interests in women’s health, children’s health, mental health, medical education, palliative care, and the management of chronic conditions. Outside of work, she enjoys bushwalking and spending quality time with her two children. In addition to English, Dr. Bontje is fluent in Dutch, allowing her to connect with a diverse range of patients. Dr Jesse Potter
MD, BPhysio(Hons)

Speaks English ​STARTING JULY 2025 Dr. Jesse Potter joins The Medical Centre of Gympie in July 2025 as a GP Registrar (GPT1) through the RACGP pathway. He holds a Doctor of Medicine from Griffith University and a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Queensland. Before commencing his career in general practice, Dr. Potter gained broad experience across multiple Queensland Health facilities, including Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Nambour General Hospital, Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital, and Gympie Hospital. His hospital work spanned a range of disciplines such as emergency medicine, general surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, urology, cardiology, and rural medicine. Prior to studying medicine, he worked as a physiotherapist, which continues to inform his approach to musculoskeletal and sports-related health issues. Dr. Potter’s special interests include chronic disease management, musculoskeletal and sports medicine, preventative health, rural medicine, and men’s health. Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Dr. Potter feels privileged to serve the local community. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his young family, surfing, hiking, fitness, and snowboarding. Dr. Yunbo Ni, skilled General Practitioner at The Medical Centre of Gympie, dedicated to comprehensive healthcare.

Dr Yunbo Ni

Speaks Mandarin ​ Dr. Yunbo Ni joined The Medical Centre of Gympie in January 2025, bringing a wealth of experience from both hospital and general practice settings. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine at Central South University Xiang Ya School of Medicine in China in 2000 and later obtained her AMC Certificate from the Australian Medical Council in 2016. She has also completed additional training, earning certificates in the Sydney Child Health Program and Women's Health, with a particular focus on antenatal care, contraception—including Mirena insertion—and gynaecological issues in older women. Before joining The Medical Centre of Gympie, Dr. Ni worked in general practice at Allora Medical Practice in Queensland as part of the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program. She also gained extensive hospital experience at Toowoomba Hospital, Logan Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, and several regional hospitals, including Tweed, Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Mount Gambier, Kyogle, and Murwillumbah. Dr. Ni has a keen interest in women’s health, paediatrics, skin cancer, and geriatrics, providing compassionate and comprehensive care to her patients. She is also keen to look after women from vulnerable groups and those experiencing difficulties with menopause. Outside of medicine, she enjoys travelling—especially road trips—along with cooking, gardening, and sewing. Dr. Jennifer Stanfield, compassionate healthcare professional at The Medical Centre of Gympie.

Dr Jennifer Stanfield

Speaks English Dr. Jennifer Stanfield joined The Medical Centre of Gympie in January 2025 as a general practice registrar, bringing several years of hospital experience to her role. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons) at Imperial College London in 2017. Before transitioning to general practice, Dr. Stanfield worked in hospitals in the United Kingdom and Australia, including Redcliffe Hospital and Redlands Hospital. She has a keen interest in paediatrics and women’s health, though she enjoys all aspects of general practice. She is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Child Health and has also obtained an Emergency Medicine Certificate. Outside of work, Dr. Stanfield enjoys spending time outdoors and regularly attends functional fitness classes. As a mother to a young child, much of her time is devoted to family life. She looks forward to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to her patients at The Medical Centre of Gympie. Dr Nadia Jackson

Speaks English ​STARTING JUNE 2025 Dr. Nadia Jackson joined The Medical Centre of Gympie in June 2025 and brings over eight years of experience in general practice. She completed her medical degree at James Cook University and holds additional qualifications including a Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care, a Sydney Child Health Certificate, and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Dr. Jackson has worked across a variety of clinical settings including Princess Alexandra Hospital, QEII Jubilee Hospital, Redlands Hospital & Community Palliative Care, as well as general practices in Inala, Caboolture, and Maroochydore. While she has a strong interest in palliative care, Dr. Jackson enjoys all aspects of general practice and is committed to providing compassionate, holistic care to her patients. Outside of medicine, she leads an active lifestyle and enjoys spending time outdoors. She has a love for farming and is involved in raising cattle, Percheron horses, and dogs. Nurse Robyn
Registered Nurse (RN)

Speaks English Robyn completed her nursing studies at Australian Catholic University in Brisbane and has been a dedicated Registered Nurse since 2002. She joined The Medical Centre of Gympie in March 2025, bringing with her over two decades of valuable experience across a variety of healthcare settings. Her career has included roles with Apunipima Cape York Health Council, as well as at Kowanyama, Port Village, and Mossman Medical Centres. These diverse experiences have helped shape her strong clinical skills and deep commitment to patient care. Robyn has a special interest in Aboriginal Health and skin excisions, and she is passionate about providing high-quality, culturally sensitive care to all patients. Outside of work, Robyn enjoys walking, listening to music, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Dr Bryan Brink

Speaks Afrikaans Dr. Bryan Brink has been a dedicated member of The Medical Centre of Gympie since 2003, bringing decades of experience in general practice. He began his medical career in 1987 and has been committed to providing high quality patient care ever since. Dr. Brink completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1987, followed by a Master’s degree in Family Medicine in 1993. In 2003, he achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), further solidifying his expertise in Australian healthcare. From 1990 to 2001, Dr. Brink operated his own medical practice in South Africa before relocating to Australia, where he worked in general practice in Cooroy, Queensland. In 2003, Dr. Brink moved his family to Gympie and joined The Medical Centre. He enjoys the variety that general practice offers and has a particular interest in musculoskeletal problems, mental health, skin cancer surgery and sports medicine. Beyond medicine, Dr. Brink is passionate about golf, painting, and gardening. He is also actively involved in his church and cherishes time spent with his grandchildren. In addition to English, he speaks Afrikaans, allowing him to connect with a diverse range of patients. Dr Praveena Sivalingathasa
MBBS, FRACGP

Speaks Sinhalese, and Tamil Dr. Praveena Sivalingathasa joined The Medical Centre of Gympie in January 2024, bringing with her a strong background in both hospital and general practice settings. She graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2012 from Saint Lucia, where she completed her clinical electives in the NHS in the UK and Singapore. Dr. Sivalingathasa became AMC certified in 2019. Prior to joining The Medical Centre of Gympie, Dr. Sivalingathasa began her career at Calvary Riverina Hospital and Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. She later moved to Gympie, where she worked at Gympie Hospital for eight months, followed by 18 months at a local Gympie Medical Clinic. Dr. Sivalingathasa has a wide range of special interests in general practice, including chronic medical conditions, adult and child health, women’s health, antenatal care, contraception, hormone  replacement therapy (HRT), minor procedures, skin excisions, Aboriginal health, skin cancer excisions, geriatrics, and mental health. Outside of medicine, Dr. Sivalingathasa enjoys travelling around Australia, going on road trips, and spending time at the beach. She is also passionate about travelling the world, singing, and gardening. As a mother of two girls, she enjoys family life and is dedicated to balancing her professional and personal commitments. In addition to English, Dr. Sivalingathasa speaks Tamil and Sinhalese, enabling her to connect with a diverse range of patients.
